“For God so loved [the people of Guyana] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The Co-operative Republic of Guyana is situated on the northern mainland of South America. The country is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil, Suriname, and Venezuela. Guyana has a small population of only about 700,000. Its capital and largest city is Georgetown. Guyana is the only South American nation where English is the official language. Its motto is “one people, one nation, one destiny.” Today we pray that every Guyanese citizen will believe the teaching of Jesus, who says that people must choose between two destinies: “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Matt. 7:13-14). Note: Wikipedia is the primary source for the geographical information in this feature.
If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. The scripture says, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. For, “Every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!” (Rom. 10:9-15).
“For God so loved [the people of Guinea-Bissau] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The Republic of Guinea-Bissau is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Senegal, Guinea, and the Atlantic. Guinea-Bissau has a population of 1.7 million. Its capital and largest city is Bissau. The nation’s official language is Portuguese. However, Upper Guinea Creole is spoken far more commonly. The national motto is: “Unity, fight, progress.” Traditional African paganism and Islam are the predominant religions. Today we pray that every Bissau-Guinean will “fight the good fight” of faith in Jesus Christ (1 Tim. 6:12). Note: Wikipedia is the primary source for the geographical information in this feature.
In hope [Abraham] believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations; as he had been told, “So shall your descendants be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “reckoned to him as righteousness.” But the words, “It was reckoned to him,” were written not for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in him that raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was put to death for our trespasses and raised for our justification (Rom. 4:18-25).
“For God so loved [the people of Guinea] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The Republic of Guinea (formerly known as French Guinea) is a country in West Africa. The nation is bordered by Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. Guinea has a population of about 11 million. Its capital and largest city is Conakry. Guinea’s official language is French. The national motto is: “Work, justice, solidarity.” The predominant religion is Islam. Today we pray that every Guinean will hear the Gospel of God’s grace and escape the spiritual poverty depressing any people that rejects God’s glorious Son. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction; since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as an expiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins; it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous and that he justifies him who has faith in Jesus (Rom. 3:21-26).
“For God so loved [the people of Guatemala] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The Republic of Guatemala is located in Central America. The country is bordered by Mexico, Belize, the Caribbean, Honduras, El Salvador, and the Pacific. With a population of almost 16 million, Guatemala is the most populous nation in Central America. Its capital and largest city is Guatemala City. Guatemala’s official language is Spanish. Catholicism is predominant, but Protestant churches are growing rapidly. The national motto is: “Grow free and fertile.” Today we pray that every Guatemalan will “lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Col. 1:10). If you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and preserving the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you; understanding will guard you (Prov. 3:3-11).
