Its amazing how we can give so little consideration to our daily lives or thoughts of its brevity. That is until we have one of those “close-calls11 or “brushed with death11 experiences. For those few moments, and sometimes several afterwards, we pay close attention to the meaning of our lives. We come to the realization of how truly limited and terminal our lives are. We also many times go on and allow ourselves to imagine what might have happened instead of what did. It shakes us to our very souls. But you know, life is brief. We are all “terminal.” That’s how we are made. Besides, our soul’s home is not meant to stay here in the physical, it’s meant to dwell in the spiritual realm. As Christians, our destiny is to be in the presence of God for all eternity. Maybe we should consider this more often than during those occasional intense moments in our lives. “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. ” James 4:14
