Speaking the Truth in Love

Jason Turner

Jason was appointed as a deacon in 2013. Son of Jerry and Mollie Turner, Jason was born in Dallas and raised in Garland. After graduating from North Garland High School, he attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, where he earned a B.S. in physical education (with a minor in English). From Argosy University in Dallas, Jason also earned an M.A. in educational leadership.

In 2003, Jason married his lovely wife, Zan. The Turners have two sons, Dillon Bunch and Jax.

Jason started his teaching/coaching career at North Garland High School, his alma mater. He taught freshman English and coached football and basketball. He has over 20 years in education as a teacher/coach/administrator, including one year as a principal. At the urging of his father, a corporate investor, Jason at one point left education for four years to become an equities trader at Fidelity Investments. But he missed teaching and spending time with children and so returned to the public school system, currently in the Kaufman ISD. Jason’s training and experience are put to good use in the Seagoville congregation, which he serves as director of education.

Jason enjoys spending time with family, playing with his dogs, reading, swimming, woodworking, and yard work. He also likes to watch and play sports.
